Setting Up the Scanner

For starters, you'll need an app to help you with scanning. Both Android and iPhone have pre-installed apps that can do the job. For iPhone, it's the 'Notes' app, and for Android, it's the 'Google Drive' app.

Scanning with iPhone's Notes App

  1. Open the Notes App: You can find the Notes app on your home screen. It has a yellow icon with a white notepad on it.

  2. Create a New Note: Once you're in the app, tap on the square with a pencil at the bottom right to create a new note.

  3. Tap on the Camera Icon: On the new note screen, tap the camera icon and then select 'Scan Documents'.

  4. Position Your Document: Place your document on a flat surface with good lighting. Point your phone camera at the document. The app will automatically capture the scan, or you can do it manually by pressing the shutter button.

Scanning with Android's Google Drive App

  1. Open Google Drive: You'll find this app in your app drawer. It has a triangular icon with green, yellow, and blue edges.

  2. Tap on the Plus Sign: Once you open the app, tap the plus sign ('+') at the bottom right.

  3. Tap on 'Scan': A menu will pop up. Select the 'Scan' option—it has a camera icon.

  4. Position Your Document: Like with the iPhone, place your document on a flat surface with good lighting. Point your phone camera at the document, then tap the round button at the bottom to capture the scan.

After scanning, you can email these documents, upload them to the cloud, or share them in other ways right from your phone. See? I told you it was a piece of cake!
